Ben (Future Skin, Ottawa) was wondering if this 6-point calf and arm suspension he did is the first of it’s kind… He hadn’t seen it before, so he gave it a shot.

Lefrog wrote me with some pictures from a great suspension they assisted for their friend Alan last Saturday. Alice filled me in on the back story, telling me Alan is from the Mutoid Waste Company, and cut the engine out of a van while hanging suicide-style from a crane. Shortly after he finished, the van caught fire and they let it burn out rather than extinguishing it. Alice also suspended (knees) that day, and their friend Mark hung as well. Photos by Dispel of Tattoo Nation UK — more continue after the break.

In contrast to the many beautiful outdoor suspensions that have been posted, and the more sterile nondescript “warehouse suscon” environments, I always get a kick out of suspensions that take place in living rooms, shop waiting rooms, and other socially surprising places for a hooking. Shrimpansnowpea sent in this shot of a six point knee suspension with Nickk Leading.

I’d like to think I’m a fairly worldly guy, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned in my adventures about the French, it’s that the only thing that well hung Frenchmen love more than smoking cigarettes is being ridden by pussy. This is XD suspending with the help of Nico in France.

Anna, who’s been featured here before, recently did her first suspension at an event MC’d by Havve Fjell of Pain Solution. She was the fourth to suspend, and very nervous (”I just don’t like needled, it’s stupid, I know”) and almost fainted when the hooks were put in.
A couple minutes later she was ready for her first flight, which she describes as the best thing she’s ever done. She swung for about forty minutes, not wanting to come down. Photos by her boyfriend and Przemek Kulikowski — many more continue after the break.

A la the various “Mindfuck” images that are floating around the Net, here are a few photos from today that sort of fall into that category (emphasis on “sort of”, I admit). Not that I expect anyone to be shocked — it takes a lot more than this to surprise a ModBlog reader!!! Anyway, let me start off with Kiki and friend (La Macchina Da Cucire) in Italy having tea for two…

Assid23 took this photo of a double suspension done at the biggest freak party in the Czech Republic at Abaton Klub from the folks at HELL.cz.

Finally, Kirill sent in a photo of his shoulder tattoo of a cuttlefish done by Ofer Peri at Body-Line in Israel.

I sure like these suspension portraits that Chris Asadian took of this suspension of Josh and MissPiss, assisted by J.C. from Pangea Piercing in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She writes,
The first time you suspend is like the first time you have sex; nervous beforehand, feelings of excitement and yet complete vulnerability, indecisions, and of course…pain. I’ve built up suspension in my head for so long. I’ve read a million different experiences and articles and I could barely watch a video of someone suspending without aching with jealousy. So it would obviously come to pass that I would be super excited about finally getting my chance to suspend. I saw the look on my boyfriend Josh’s face when he got down from the hooks for the first time so long ago. I saw the satisfaction in someone’s eyes when they were finally able to get off the ground in their two-point chest suspension. I wanted that. I wanted a million different things out of my suspension and I wasn’t even sure what I was in for yet. I’ve done a flesh pull once before and had an amazing time. People, places, attitudes… It just fit and I had an absolute blast. Suspensions can’t be that much harder, can they?
The familiar feeling of the needles piercing my back sent me into my first tizzy. Four hooks were finally in and it was time for a breather. I was already shaking. A little bit of energy drink to bump up my sugar a bit and it was time to lace me up to the rig. Getting off of my feet was incredibly difficult. Not just the way it screws with your head with the concept of everything, but the pain was extreme. I held tightly to Josh with my legs around him as he urged me forward and upward. I closed my eyes and tried to relax per his requests. Everything started to tingle… I wondered… was this the endorphin rush? And then it hit me; I knew that feeling. I was passing out. I forced my eyes open because I knew that nothing good could come out of passing out under these kind of extreme circumstances.
“Don’t let go… don’t let go…”
I kept saying that, panicked, looking at Josh who was standing in front me and holding my hands. I was lifted higher… higher… I started getting dizzy… and then…
“You have to let go… you have to do this alone.”
A deep breath and… I was off. My feet dangled a foot above the ground. My arms were completely immobilized, shoulders up to my ears practically with the weight of my form on the hooks. I had done it. I was suspending! J.C. and Josh were spouting things at me about how great I was doing and cheering me on but I could barely focus. And then… sweat… dizzy… intense pain. I felt like I was going to pass out another time and I tried to push it away and out of my head. Then the nausea hit, and it hit hard. It was at that point that I knew I was done.
My body had been through enough and mind-over-matter just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I whimpered for them to quickly bring me down and that I was feeling ill. Getting down from there was a terrible feeling, honestly. I hadn’t done everything I came to do. I suspended… but… I just expected more out of myself. With my overwhelmingly good response from the flesh pull, I figured that this wouldn’t be too much different. Boy was I wrong. I immediately burst into tears. They weren’t just tears of disappointment.. they were tears of pure emotion and raw… “raw me”, I guess.

Honestly Rafa, I know you get a little excited when you’re suspending but there’s really no need for this sort of behaviour*..
*Not that I’m one to talk - A few years ago the police knocked at our place in Norwich, England, because the next door neighbour’s young daughter had been watching me suspend (the inaugural suspension on the Body Evolution tower we built) in my birthday suit, suffice to say she burst into tears and ran to her mother, who called the cops. They were very good about it though and suggested that next time we put up higher screens to block the view.
I hope I didn’t scar her too badly.

Reminiscent of the recently posted cliff suspension in Guatemala, Solja and the Ephemme Performance crew (Brett Perkins, Anne Ott, Mike Dimas, and Neil Kohanski — Anomaly in Echo Park, LA/CA) helped celebrate Neil’s 30th birthday with some suspension-rigged rock climbing. From Solja’s IAM page:
It is a decent hike up a fairly wide trail 3/4 of the way to the fall, then things get significantly more adventurous. Portions of the trail are about as wide as a single foot with a steep slope down toward the rocky ravine below. Mike Dimas, Annetastic, Ishmail22 (Neil), and I hurriedly hiked to the waterfall point hoping to beat the setting of the sun. The hills get pretty cold when the sun goes down and it makes it a lot harder to see the hooks and the surrounding skin. I had hoped to rig the equipment over some overhanging tree branches, but it turned out to be a little less advantageous than I remembered. The tree that was firmly rooted into the cliff side didn’t quite clear enough of the rocky wall to allow a good free suspension.
There were no viable trees across the gorge to run a line to or from, so a new plan was developed: Neil would rappel down the rocks by the hooks in his back and suspend in the open hollow at the end of the falls. It was roughly 50 feet to the shallow pooling water below, he would need to go about 30 feet below us to reach a free hanging point.
He rappelled the rock face two times, forwards and backwards, but found facing away from the rocks was the most comfortable. He hung below us for a while before the light started to fade beyond the point of being able to monitor his safety and consciousness. We brought him back up and loaded up the gear. The return trip was a little quicker, we all scrambled up the hillside following some small animal trails. It required an intense use of all four limbs, holding on to rocks and roots along the way to avoid falling backwards. Neil remarked that he had no discomfort or pain in the hike up and that the two large hooks we used was quite nice contrasted with the 4 smaller ones he had always done in the past.
More pictures continue after the break.

Ron Garza, John Durante, and Chris Glunt have been exploring the world, and recently found themselves at San Marcos on Lake Atitaln in Guatemala — $10 a night accommodations — and after doing some 50ft cliff dives, already high on adrenaline, Chris suspended with two 6ga hooks and rigging tied to a boulder. Looks like an amazing experience — continue reading for more photos, and add their pages to your reading list to follow their adventures of course.
