Cute and simple, Rachel’s hearts were done by John Deweese at Great American Tattoo Company in Shelbyville, Indiana. I get a kick out of all these tattoos that are inherently linked to youth culture — in the previous generation of tattooed seniors, most people had military tattoos and sailor stuff and the general iconography of adulthood, but it’s going to be different this time around, with most people wearing the iconography of youth…

Since people seem to like the large-scale text tattoos (like the recent Kerouac tattoo, a typo-ridden ‘If’, a Bukowski poem, A Tale of Two Cities, and this big script piece), here’s another… This poem that Avonchorda wears was written by herself and tattooed by Alex at Las Calaveras Body Modification Studio in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico, where she lives. Now, I saw good ol’ Giles cheering that ModBlog might soon be ruled under an enlightened era of feminism, while I saw other people opining, oh please, please, where will we get our boobie shots? Now, don’t worry… If my guesses as to who some of my replacements are going to be, I can tell you that they’re real sleazes, and you won’t have to worry about getting your fix. But, until a new era of shallow excuses starts, here’s a nice photo of Dagon taken by Greg Gabelman in Vancouver, with the chestpiece being done by Shawn O’Connor.

I really think that without a doubt one of the most truly stunning, unique, striking, exotic, and beautiful women in the body modification scene is Argentina’s La Negra, photographed here by Eduardo Baez for Tatuarte en la Piel magazine at Danny Yerna’s event in Mexico. Candice recently did a photoshoot with Ashley at Savage Skin for a magazine cover and article. She says,
Now, I have seen some of the pictures of “big” guys on ModBlog, but none are as big as my dear friend, who happens to be a champion bodybuilder from Lithuania and who is my personal trainer — imagine the two of us in the gym!

Erin’s cormorants on her shoulders were done by Stephen at Lefty’s in Pittsfield, MA. She explains them and the tree tattoo that sits central on her chest;
“I was shocked when I learned that having a large tree tattooed on my chest would change my life forever. Now people are drawn to my art instead of in awe of my nasty scars. People of all ages and walks of life are attracted to my tree, and the birds have helped to bring peoples eyes up from my chest.”

In contrast to the many beautiful outdoor suspensions that have been posted, and the more sterile nondescript “warehouse suscon” environments, I always get a kick out of suspensions that take place in living rooms, shop waiting rooms, and other socially surprising places for a hooking. Following up on the inner cheek piercing I posted a few weeks ago, Herini had a similar piercing, although it was placed a little differently (sort of a frenulum-less scrumper/smiley). Hers never healed though, and they’ve since been removed.

Yes, yes, bring on the jokes about how Miss Mindi (who does “acrobatic neo-burlesque”) is not just very cute, but also very horny (pierced by Kristof in Brisbane)… What I especially got a kick out of though — and you can see this in the play piercing photos after the break — is that she has a Cheshire Cat tail tattooed on her!

Anna, who’s been featured here before, recently did her first suspension at an event MC’d by Havve Fjell of Pain Solution. She was the fourth to suspend, and very nervous (”I just don’t like needled, it’s stupid, I know”) and almost fainted when the hooks were put in.
A couple minutes later she was ready for her first flight, which she describes as the best thing she’s ever done. She swung for about forty minutes, not wanting to come down. Photos by her boyfriend and Przemek Kulikowski — many more continue after the break.
