I mean, even oranges are getting their navels pierced these days. I’m pretty sure that this orange isn’t 18 yet, so now I know where to get pierced in Edmonton if I’m underage — by Aaron Brink at Eye of the Lotus. Well, at least if I’m an underage orange… I doubt it applies to humans.

These are photos from PiercedSmurf’s suspension wedding (more pictures on his IAM page) on April 20, 2007 in New Orleans. I just love how happy everyone looks (including the person officiating the wedding!).

Quite a few of the scarification superstars (scars on ModBlog, scars on BME) have done Japanese tours, but there’s quite a bit of local talent as well. For example, these very clean cuttings were all cut by Bin in Kyoto, Japan at Body Piercing Studio Scamp.

Big nostrils, big labret, big lobes, and a forehead Star of David, but remember — if you don’t brush your teeth often enough, they’ll be permanently stained yellow! So don’t skip the top row or you’ll end up with golden teeth too. Seriously though, I think if I ever do any tooth mods myself, I’m getting warthog teeth. That’s what I really want — big lower jaw tusks like a troll or something.

PS. I’m not kidding.

Alicia in Melbourne, Australia had this unique piercing done by Sallyann at Hair House Warehouse in Broadmeadows — it’s a horizontal under-the-tongue surface piercing (aka a “lingum piercing“, one of the rarest variations on unusual tongue work). Before you say “oh, that’s going to reject,” I’ll mention that it’s about ten months old in this photo.

I spend too much time in the company of four year olds, because the first thing I thought when I looked at this picture was “chooo choooo!”.

As part of “BME week” (or whatever) that surrounds BMEfest at the end of June and start of July are a variety of events, including the Suspension School organized by Philip Barbosa (visit his IAM page for more details, or the event page). The instructors are some of the best — the course is lead by Allen Falkner (suspension.org/TSD) and with backup from Emrys Yetz, Jill Allen, Jon Pett and Jason Shaw.
Anyway, people quite liked the event shirt that Phil designed, so we’ve put it up in BMEshop as a fundraiser as well. You can click through to get it… And the portrait of Robert Carlyle from Trainspotting was done by John Tilt of Body Art Studios in Stafford, UK.

This Saturday James is taking part in the Buffalo Tour de Cure to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.
It’s also his first century ride. Last year, he managed 65 miles (a metric century) and raised over $1000; this year he’s set his sights on 105 miles and $2000. There’s already $1,820 in the coffers, and it would be great if some of you lovely people could help give him an extra push towards his goal.
His fundraising page can be found here, good luck James, and well done!

If you want to be at least Cool Ice-level cool, you need to hook up with Brian of Pure Body Arts for some cutting… I love these sunglasses he recently did! Anyway, he’s up in Toronto for BMEfest/ModProm, so drop him a line if your paths may cross here and you’d like to take advantage of the opportunity for some top-notch scarification (or heavier mods as well).
