“I began by getting pierced in a shop in Alabama and becoming friends with the people working there. I worked as receptionist for a short stint before being offered a piercing apprenticeship. I have been enthusiastic about the art of piercing ever since. During my apprenticeship I learned the fundamentals, like disease prevention and basic technique, but was left to learn a lot on my own. By networking with my peers in the profession I have become a pretty well rounded piercer. I’m now a proud member of the APP, and look forward to keeping with standards and promoting health and safety to the piercing industry as long as I’m involved, and will always advocate for the industry that has allowed me to make a profession out of something that I truly love.”

It’s not at all uncommon for older men with heavy full-body and genital tattoos to have done their own work… I thought people might find it interesting to see this unusual tattoo machine in use by tattoo95fr (lots more in the members section of BME).

I am, however, awakened by an entirely different subject also symbolized by “XXX”. Carly is more responsible than me — this is a straightedge tattoo, not a porno tattoo, done by Pon at Tattoo Seen in the Bronx (she’s a big fan of pink, and not a big fan of booze).

Everyone I’ve showed this to kept trying to figure out whether it had something to do with free drugs for sailors. That said, everyone I showed it to was probably on drugs anyway. Daiyne’s tattoo (by Sean Donovan, Sick Creations, Snohomish WA) has a far more responsible explanation — it means “drug free” in Gaelic.

Nickk Leading at Perforations in Denver, CO, just did this pair of 14ga 2″ custom bend surface-weave sternum piercings. Nickk should pierce a few dozen more, give them all different aftercare instructions, and see which works best in the name of science… or is that a little “kill em all, let god sort them out?”. Because I’ve tried so many weird piercings myself, I’m probably a little too pro-human-experimentation.

Since today’s theme is “complain that Shannon posts the same pretty girls over and over” day, let me continue the trend with the striking and beautiful Liska. Her 1.6mm/14ga nipples are by Johan at Aeon in Lule (in Northern Sweden)… Previously: “Liska, Liska, Liska” (if you say that three times — or is it five? — in the mirror she will appear and murder you).
