Not that I anticipate ModBlog winning because (and maybe I’m kidding myself) it’s just too weird for the mundanes, but it looks like we just got nominated (thanks!) for our first bloggy award. I guess if enough readers actually nominated ModBlog it could win, but I seriously do wonder if we’d be silently nixxed behind the scenes…

Note: I actually would be very happy if people voted for ModBlog, but please vote in legitimately if you do (ie. make real votes in other categories too).

  1. What category(ies) did it get nominated for?

  2. Topical blog, that the one i could see.
    Pretty cool!

  3. I’d vote but I don’t read any blogs regularly except this, so I’d be lost as to what to put in the other categories. Hope Modblog gets some kind of ranking, even if it doesn’t win.

  5. Congrats, but eek–how unpleasant to share a list with Michelle Malkin.

  8. Not to burst this rightfully joyous bubble, but Modblog isn’t an official nominee yet - those aren’t announced until Jan 22. The link listing the nominees was the personal submission made to the bloggies folk.

Modblog would need to be nominated by enough people so it would make the contention list. If you look at the official website for the awards, it explains the whole nominations process.

  9. Dani, you’ll note the lake of “official”. ModBlog was nominated. *NO* site has yet officially been brought to the short list, and honestly, even if a hundred thousand readers submitted it, I’d be shocked if the bloggies would have the guts to even link to ModBlog… I think they’d cut us off the list to keep an extremist site out of the running. But you never know I guess.

  10. A couple of thousand nominations (I’ve done one) and, if it was “removed” a couple of thousand complaining e-mails would do the trick. Never underestimate the power of the rant.
Correctly spelled rants are the entire purpose of the English language :)

  12. is this really classed as an extremist blog? just a bit of piercing, tattooing.. ok some entries are a bit out there but it still makes for interesting reading i think.
    good luck with it :)

  13. Wilburt, I’ll say the same thing that moonshiners used to say: I am breaking no law of God, and at best the corrupted and self-serving laws of the rich.

  14. There are other blogs on that list that are not meant for children. Since there are quite a few blogs on that list, maybe we’ll get lucky and no one will take the time to go through this all that thoroughly. However, if modblog doesn’t make it to the next level look on the bright side; there will be less crazies trolling the blog telling us how sick we all are.

  20. PostSecret isn’t nominated!!! WTF?

Oh, and go ModBlog! Hope you win. :) And I don’t think they really care if something might shock “the mundanes;” last year the winners received a DVD of “The God Who Wasn’t There.”

Mike on January 12th, 2007 at 4:52 am
  21. Yeah, PostSecret is pretty awesome. Does anyone remember the name of that other popular secret blog where you just typed them into a box and wrote as much as you want? I’ve been trying to remember for ages now.

lilish on January 12th, 2007 at 5:33 am
  22. PostSecret (which i absolutely adore) won last year. perhaps winners can’t be nominated again?

Sunday on January 12th, 2007 at 8:33 am
  23. it only said some one couldn’t win the life time achivment award twice, i think. so i guess post sectret “could” win again, but…

  24. [...] I inadvertently clicked on ModBlog in my feed reader, even though I’m still at work, but I went ahead and looked anyway - the pictures were already downloaded. I’m glad I did, because I noticed that I’m linked to in a post made on the 10th. A bunch of the people I nominated for Bloggies left comments on that post, but Shannon apparently felt it was worth a blog post of its own. The ensuing conversation is a little confusing, though. Some people don’t seem to realize that I am just a nobody, making preliminary nominations. If those nominations weren’t already closed, everybody who reads ModBlog could have run out and nominated it too. I do think it’s a good topical blog, that’s why I nominated it…if I only nominated blogs I thought would win, every category would be full of Dooce. [...]

  25. I think sites can win multiple times on everything but lifetime.
